The Port and You

The Port of Cromarty Firth is a Trust Port

Our mission is to develop, improve and safeguard the Cromarty Firth as a Port, for the benefit of all stakeholders. This means all our assets (the waters of the Firth and the Port facilities within it) are safeguarded and managed by the Board on your behalf.

Furthermore, 100% of any profit is reinvested in the Port’s development for the benefit of current and future generations.

This is the Trust model – this is your Port

In the last seven years, the Port’s investment has totalled more than £50 million in infrastructure. This includes land capacity, deep-water berths and sheltered anchorages geared towards key commercial industries including offshore renewables, oil and gas and cruise.

The Port strives to achieve all three pillars of sustainability: Economic, Social and Environmental. This will secure its future and ensure we hand its assets on in the same or better condition for succeeding generations.

The Port’s stakeholders are varied and numerous. Some are bound up in their operation, e.g. users or employees. Others are impacted by Port activities, such as the local community and regional economies. The UK, Scottish and local governments also take an interest, along with local and regional businesses and regulatory authorities.

There are nine communities bordering the Cromarty Firth, and they are at the heart of everything we do: Nigg & Shandwick, Kilmuir Easter & Logie Easter, Saltburn & Westwood, Invergordon, Alness, Kiltearn, Ferintosh, Resolis, and Cromarty. They are one of our most important stakeholders and communicating and interacting with them is vital for our success.

We organise quarterly joint meetings that representatives from each community council are able to attend. The meetings provide updates on all our activities and provides the opportunity to engage with local communities about our plans.

As a Trust Port, we aim to be a national strategic asset that drives massive economic growth, prosperity and opportunity to the Cromarty Firth, the Highlands and Scotland, offering a bright future for generations to come.

Our Communities

Community Sponsorship Programme

We believe it is important to give back to the communities who support us and do this through our annual Community Sponsorship Programme

The Port takes great pride in having its own Community Sponsorship Programme.

Every year the Port donates money to projects, schools or local organisations based in the communities that border the Cromarty Firth to improve, safeguard and develop the area for the benefit of all our local people.

Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis and the deadline for submissions is the last day of March, June, September and December.

In 2021, we donated nearly £55K to good causes in the local area

The Port of Cromarty Firth is your Port, and you are an integral part of the Port’s story
